Now I don't have to review the Chicago show ;-) Jack D was pretty charged
up for this show though -- perhaps it was a little better.
I was suprised at how unfocused and lame paterson was as a DJ. I liked
the tracks he played, but he was weak at beatmatching, and jumped all over
the place stylistically so that he never built a groove.
He's been a DJ for what, 10 years?
You want IRONIC: He came to Chicago, played Relief trax, and botched
the beat matching. Good thing none of the real Chicago House crew showed,
they would have laughed themselves silly. In Chicago, it's not really
beat matching unless you do it perfectly, whilst chatting up the ladies and
chugging a 40.
And in Minneapolis it's not beat matching until you do it while on LSD
and MDMA at the same time.
